Welcome Stella Kaye and Solana Blakely
We’re excited to introduce two new Young Women Ambassadors from Denver, Colorado. Their love for dance brought Stella Kaye and Solana Blakely together. Stella is a sophomore in high school and Solana is a senior. While they attend different high schools Stella and Solana know each other from their dance studio. In fact Stella introduced Solana to the Girls’ C.E.O. Connection and our Young Women Ambassadors program. Stella learned about us through another YWA, Addilae Carmichael.
What Stella Kaye and Solana Blakely Love
Participating in her school’s theater productions, choir, and dance take up a good portion of Stella’s free time. She’s serves on the theater council, choir council and is dance captain for the school’s theater productions. As you might guess from her picture on the left Stella loves the outdoors.
Stella is a member of the sustainability and book clubs at her school. We’ll find out more about the sustainability club for a future blog post. She volunteers with the local planned parenthood. And, she’s a teen volunteer for the 2022 WED Colorado (Women’s Entrepreneurship Day) Summit in Denver on November 18th.
When asked why she wanted to serve as an ambassador, Stella wrote, “It will give me the opportunity to meet driven, creative, and successful women from across the world. It will also give me the opportunity to learn from women who have made a name for themselves. I want to develop an understanding of their work ethics and business models.” Stella’s also excited about interviewing accomplished female entrepreneurs after seeing the ones her friend Addilae Carmichael interviewed the past two years.
Solana dances for about 3 hours on the weekdays and 5 to 7 hours every other weekend. She also works at the dance studio and is an officer on its National Honor Society for Dance Arts program. Even though her dance and piano lessons take up a great time, she still finds time for school clubs.
Solana is the founder and co-chair of the Students Demand Action Club. She is also a member of the Feminism Club and Social Justice League. She too is a teen volunteer for the 2022 WED Colorado (Women’s Entrepreneurship Day) Summit in Denver.
When asked why she wanted to serve as one of our ambassadors Solana wrote, “I want to serve as a Young Woman Ambassador because it will help me and other girls like me to gain the confidence and knowledge to thrive as leaders in entrepreneurship and beyond.”
